As the world braces for COVID’s unrelenting waves, many are being forced to ask what life will look like in a post-pandemic world?

While clear answers are in short supply, a single recognition is settling in for many; regardless of what the future holds, there is no going back to the life I once lived. Adaptation defines the horizon.

Yet where does the motivation come from to transform over and over again? The drive to continually change leaves some excited. Others however, are already exhausted. Many of the rest don’t know where or how to start.

“One of the defining challenges of this kind of work crisis, is that while no one is left unaffected, some groups will feel the lasting effects much longer. It’s called scarring,” offers work strategist, Tyler Waye. “Many people are poised to adapt. Their previous training, their current work, their track record allow them to thrive during change. But, there is a different group who are totally unprepared for this level of change. At some point, the pandemic will end, and for those who are unprepared for rapid adaptation, the career and life scarring may just be starting.”

This challenge of change is opening new opportunities for an old industry: self-help. Tech start-ups, like Mindset App are realizing and developing technology to help people get motivated for what’s coming next.

“Motivational media is often misunderstood,” says Joel Huculak, Co-Founder of Mindset App and CEO of Motiversity. “The old critique is that motivational content lacks depth. We’re proving the opposite. Motivation is right at the core of what people need right now. Despite being tired, despite a pandemic, despite the challenges in life, each of us still needs to find the energy to take on a changing future.”

Perhaps this is why motivational videos are now receiving millions of daily views across multiple platforms. The trend is clear, content designed to get you up and moving is on the rise. Mindset App has taken notice.

With its official launch on November 16, Mindset App’s new platform kicks off with over 500 audios, over 300 speakers and over 20 self-development creators with a combined 13 million YouTube subscribers. The Mindset team believes it will take this type of creator network to take on the size of the emerging opportunity and challenge.

The pandemic’s global fallout means big answers are needed, and the timing may be right for this kind of new technology. When it comes to the motivation for change, there is no getting around the scale needed to reach enough people, fast enough, with effective services. Recent recessions have left millions impacted for a decade or more. This pandemic dwarfs them all.

As Waye puts it, “if you don’t think motivation is a factor in COVID’s recovery, you don’t understand the full depth of this pandemic.”
